Description
This is an 18th-century house, originally comprising two dwellings, located on The Cross in Wivenhoe. The building is constructed of red brick in a Flemish bond pattern and extends over two storeys with attics. It has a ridged, gabled roof covered in peg tiles, punctuated by two inset red brick chimney stacks at each end. A parapet runs along the front, incorporating a dentilled eaves band and a band at the first floor level. The first floor has six sash windows with small panes, each with a rubbed straight arch above. The ground floor features a modern door on the left, set within a 19th-century case with a flat hood. Four pairs of sash windows matching those above are also present on the ground floor. In the centre of the frontage is another door, distinguished by a pedimented case featuring mutules, fluted pilasters, and triglyphs.
