Description
Wivenhoe Hall Cottage, dating from the 18th century, is a rectangular building featuring a tetrastyle Ionic portico in front of a semi-hexagonal recess. The portico is supported by four stuccoed Ionic columns and two pilasters. The structure is built of red brick in Flemish bond with false joints, and it has a brick dentilled eaves-band and a hipped roof covered in machine-made tiles. A central crest adorns the moulded entablature and pediment. On either side of the portico, there are two round-headed niches, with a door situated between them in a round-headed recess that features a moulded architrave and swan-necked scrolls above.
