Description
Springfield Place is a building from the 18th century that may include elements from an earlier structure. It is constructed of red brick and stands two storeys tall with attics, featuring dormer windows behind a tall parapet. The front facade has three bays and a range of nine windows, with the central bay recessed and containing five windows. A stone Ionic porch is present, along with a pedimented window above. The building showcases red brick cambered arches and jambs, as well as red brick used for the principal quoins. The stone eaves cornice is moulded and supported by modillions, with floating projections that include Diocletian windows. The roofs are hipped and covered with peg tiles, framed in heavy oak. The building has an H-plan layout and features three red brick chimney stacks with octagonal shafts arranged in groups of three. Inside, there are many high-quality 18th-century details.
