Description

Nos 1 and 2 Springfield Dukes Cottages are two 18th century cottages that have had later additions. They are timber framed and plastered, featuring a two-window range. A modern porch extends the length of the front, and there are rear wings. It is reputed that Oliver Goldsmith stayed in one of these cottages and wrote part of "The Deserted Village" here.
