Description
This barn, located approximately 30 meters south-west of Wotherton Hall Farmhouse, dates from the early to mid-18th century and has undergone later alterations. It is constructed of red brick, featuring both English and mixed bond patterns, set on a rubblestone plinth. The roof is covered with plain tiles and has crowstep gables adorned with decorative finials. The barn has two levels and includes a plat band. The central entrance is wide double doors, flanked by eaves hatches on either side, although the left hatch is now blocked. To the right of the entrance, there are two 19th-century segmental-headed openings and a 20th-century door with a concrete lintel at the far right. The structure also features infilled cross-shaped and narrow rectangular air vents, along with circular owl holes in the gable ends and blocked segmental-headed windows beneath them. Inside, the barn has a double-purlin roof supported by five bays, with raking struts from the tie beams that hold up the principal rafters, leading to centre trusses and king posts in the outer trusses.
