Description

Sarre Mill is a windmill built in 1820 for John Holman of Canterbury, and heightened in 1856 for Thomas Holman. It is a timber-framed structure with weather boarding above a tarred brown brick base. The mill has an octagonal plan, typical of a smockmill, and a gambrel-roofed cap. The sails and fantail have been removed and relocated to Cranbrook. Boarded doors are located to the north and south, leading to flights of wooden stairs. The mill was undergoing restoration at the time of re-survey.
