Description

The Deal Cutter is a public house located on King Street in Ramsgate, dating from the early 18th century. The building is rendered and features a plain tiled roof. It stands two storeys high with a basement on a plinth, and has quoins at the cornice and parapet. There are stacks to the left with remnants of a parapet gable. The ground floor includes a tripartite sash window to the left, two sashes on the first floor at different levels, and a tripartite sash window with a four-light design, cornice, and flanking double half-glazed doors in a pilastered surround, along with another tripartite sash to the right. There is a basement opening to the left and a central incised plastered name plaque on the first floor. The interior is notably lower than the street level. This establishment is one of the oldest public houses in Ramsgate and is marked as the Deal Cutter on the 1822 map by Collard and Hurst.
