Description
This is a terrace row of three houses, numbers 4, 5, and 6 La Belle Alliance Square, in Ramsgate. They were likely built around 1818. The houses are constructed of stock brick, with some sections rendered, and have a slate roof. They are three storeys high, plus a basement, and sit on a plinth with a cill band and a moulded cornice topped by a parapet. Each house unit has two glazing bar sashes on the second floor (a total of six windows). The first floor features two French windows, which are set within moulded surrounds and a gauged elliptical recessed verandah with scrolled railings, although the railings at number 5 have been replaced. The ground floor windows project and are rendered, with recessed round-headed sashes which incorporate margin light glazing bar sashes (one surviving at number 5). Basement openings are visible below ground floor level. The doorways feature projecting brick surrounds, with half-glazed or boarded doors and semi-circular fanlights. The terrace is separated from numbers 10-12 by a late 20th-century rebuilding of war-damaged houses in a matching style.
