Description

Liberties Public House is a public house located on King Street in Great Yarmouth. It is an early 19th-century reconstruction of a 17th-century house. The building is made of red brick and features a pantiled roof. It stands three storeys high and has a two-window range. The late 19th-century public house facade extends from the existing building line and includes a central door flanked by two glazed bays, separated by Corinthian pilasters. The facade has a tiled dado, and the first floor has two 8/8 unhorned sash windows set within flush frames, featuring rebuilt gauged arches. There are two similar sash windows on the second floor. The eaves cornice is adorned with paired modillions, and the gabled roof has an internal gable-end stack on the south side. The north gable wall contains some 17th-century flint and brick. There is a door to the right, and the rear of the building has sash windows and marks from a gabled wing that was removed in the late 20th century.

Inside, the ground floor features four bridging beams with sunk-quadrant mouldings and jewelled tongue stops. There is a rear door to the south with an early 17th-century frame, sunk-quadrant jambs, and a lintel with an overlight. The interior also includes a winder staircase. The first floor has bridging beams with sunk-quadrant mouldings and run-out stops on the north side and tongue stops on the south side.
