Description

Number 141 is an early 18th-century house, now used as offices, located in King Street, Great Yarmouth. The building is constructed of red brick with a concrete tile roof. It is three storeys high with a five-window front. The central bay features a shallow, full-height segmental bow with a three-light window on each of the first and second floors. A covered porch is formed on the ground floor of the bow by four Tuscan columns, lacking an architrave. A double-leaf door with eight panels is positioned behind the columns, flanked by windows on either side; these, along with windows above, are all set within segmental or flat gauged skewback arches. The windows are late 20th-century top-hung casements, fitted with glazing bars. A mutulated eaves cornice runs along the top of the facade, and a gabled roof incorporates an internal gable-end stack to the south. The south gable and rear elevation have been rendered. Square-section area railings stand in front of the building’s facade. Internally, the entrance lobby and office reception area have been altered. An open-well staircase, featuring a stick baluster design and a ramped, wreathed handrail, leads to the attic and is lit by an oval lantern. A front first-floor room in the bow has a plaster cornice decorated with grape motifs.
