Description
No. 143 King Street is a shop with upper accommodation that was converted to offices in the late 20th century. It dates from the early 19th century and is built of red brick, topped with a roof of black-glazed pantiles. The building has four storeys and features a two-window range. The left-hand bay includes a segmental bow window that rises the full height from the first floor. The ground floor front was updated in the late 20th century. The bow window contains a curved tripartite sash on the first and second floors, with 8/8 and 2/2 unhorned glazing bars. There are no gauged arches present. The third floor has similar sashes with 4/8 and 1/2 glazing bars. The right bay features a 6/6 unhorned sash under gauged skewback arches on the first and second floors, and a similar 3/6 sash on the top floor. The building is finished with a dentil and modillion eaves cornice and has a gabled roof that is hipped to the north.
