Description
No. 19 is a house dating from around 1800, constructed of stock brick with flint on the return elevations and topped with a slate roof. The building has two storeys and a basement set on a plinth, featuring a projecting center with strip quoins and a modillion cornice at the parapet. The center is raised and rendered, and the roof is double span with stacks on both the left and right sides.
The front has a regular arrangement of three glazing bar sash windows on the first floor and two on the ground floor, with a central panelled door that is mostly glazed, topped by a semi-circular fanlight in a double rebated surround. There are two steps leading up to the door, which has a ramped and wreathed handrail. To the right, there is a basement opening.
To the left of the house, there is a wall about 6 feet high and 10 yards long, which has a boarded door adjacent to the house. At the rear, there is a two-storey extension made of flint, featuring stable doors that open into the courtyard, which is paved with York stone flags. There is also a partly demolished flint garden building with blocked lancets reported.
