Description

This is a group of three chest tombs located about 50 meters west of the Church of St. Laurence. They date from the 18th century and are constructed of brick with stone top slabs. All three tombs are coffin-shaped, featuring moulded top slabs. The westernmost tomb is almost completely level with the ground surface, the middle tomb stands about 2 and a half feet high, and the easternmost tomb is about 1 foot high. Unfortunately, all inscriptions on the tombs are illegible. This type of chest tomb is virtually unique in East Kent.
