Description
The chest tomb to Thomas Tomson and headstone to Anne Tomson is located south of the Church of St. Laurence. Thomas Tomson died in 1761. The chest tomb is made of stock brick and features a heavy, rough-faced marble top slab. On the north side, there is a plaque adorned with cherubs and foliage, along with an oval inscription that reads: "Thomas Tomson M.D. OB. 27th Jan. 1761." Adjacent to the east is the headstone of his wife, Ann, who died on 9th June 1761. This headstone stands about 3 and a half feet high and has Rocaille scrolled shoulders, a scrolled egg and tongue cornice, and a winged cherub head set in a sunburst design.
