Description
This barn, located about 50 metres north-west of Down Barton, dates from the 16th century. It is timber framed and clad with weatherboard, topped with a corrugated iron roof. The roof is hipped on the left side and gabled on the right, with catslide outshots projecting to the centre and right. There are boarded cart doors to the centre right, with a raking mid-strey on the opposite elevation. Inside, the barn features six bays with aisles and was originally longer with more bays to the east. The arcade posts are supported by passing shores, and the roof has clasped purlins, although it has been partially altered with diagonal struts. This barn is included for its group value.
