Description

This barn, located about 20 meters north of Oak Farm Cottage, dates back to the mid-16th century but was reduced in size in the 18th century and altered in the 20th century. It features a timber frame with some block replacement, and is plastered and weatherboarded. The roof is hipped and thatched. The barn consists of three bays and has central double doors, with 20th-century casement windows on either side. The right end has stable doors, and the ground floor is weatherboarded on the right and at the rear.

Inside, the rear wall shows close studding with a mid-rail and reverse cranked arched braces. The right end wall is from the 18th century, while the left end and front walls were added in the 20th century. There are arched braces connecting jowled posts to tie beams, with some braces replaced by knees. The structure includes two queen post trusses with cambered collars and some cranked braces to the plates and purlins. Attached to the left is a single-storey 19th-century clay lump and pantiled loose box, which has a stable door at the front. The barn is included for its group value.
