Barn To North-East Of Oak Tree Farmhouse

This barn, located to the north-east of Oak Tree Farmhouse, dates back to around 1600 and has undergone some alterations in the mid-19th century. It is timber-framed and partially weather-boarded, topped with a pantile roof and consists of five bays. The framing features close-studded construction, although some parts have suffered loss. A midstrey was added later to the north, and there are various door openings throughout the structure.

Inside, the barn showcases massive jowled posts and mid rails, with some curved bracing still intact. The tie beams are slightly cranked, and a few braces remain. Two of the trusses have been altered to include knee braces. The roof, which dates from the 19th century, reuses the original principal rafters. The western end of the barn seems to have originally served as a stable.

This substantial barn is part of a cohesive farmstead group with Oak Tree Farmhouse.
