Description

Barn. c.1600 with mid C19 alterations. Timber-framed, weather-boarded in part, with pantile roof. 5 bays. Close-studded framing with some loss in part. Midstrey to north inserted later. Various door openings. INTERIOR. Massive jowled posts and mid rails with some curved bracing surviving. Slightly cranked tie beams with the odd brace surviving, two trusses altered to knee braces. Above the ties the C19 roof re-uses the original principal rafters. The western end appears originally to have been a stable. This sizeable barn forms a good farmstead group with Oak Tree Farmhouse (q.v.).
