Description
Pip's Peace is a house dating from the 16th century, which underwent renovations around 1970, with an additional right cell added in 1973. The building is timber framed and rendered, designed to imitate ashlar stonework, and features a thatched roof. It consists of three cells, is one and a half storeys high, and has three casement windows with horizontal glazing bars, along with a plank door and two hooded dormers. The old range has gable stacks, one of which is now internal.
Inside, the frame is arranged in two and a half bays, with a section on the right missing and replaced by the 1973 work. The upper floor shows widely spaced full-height studs. The left gable has an incomplete diamond-mullioned window. One tie beam has been removed, while the other has mortices for missing braces. The upper floor may have been added later, as the joists are set flat and widely spaced, with one floor beam replaced around 1970. The roof remains intact, featuring clasped purlins and incomplete arched wind-bracing.
