Description
Tyto Cottage is a house that dates from the early 17th century for the left cell and around 1700 for the right cell, with a one-storey wing added in the mid-20th century to the right. The building is timber framed and plastered, designed to resemble ashlar, and features a thatched roof. It has two storeys and a two-cell layout with different origins. The cottage has casement windows, mostly from the 19th century, and a central doorway with a plank door. There are gable stacks, with the one on the right placed externally.
Inside, the left cell was once connected to additional work on the left side and features exposed studding and straight arched braces. The ground floor ceiling has a raised bridging beam and stop-chamfered joists set flat, along with an open fireplace. The original roof includes wind-braced side purlins. The right cell has exposed studs on the upper floor, a small blocked window with diamond mullions, and the upper floor structure has been largely renewed in the mid-20th century.
