Description

MONK SOHAM CHURCH HILL TM 26 SW 5/146 Hill Cottage - - II

Former farmhouse. Early C17 with rear lean-to of c.1700. Timber framed and plastered, roof of concrete plaintiles. 2-cell, lobby entry type. 2 storeys and attic. 2 windows, mid C20 small-paned casements. Mid C20 gabled porch with battened plank door. Internal stack with small red brick shaft. Interior. Plain studding with arched braces at the corners. Exposed joists on ground floor. C20 stair to upper floor is in rear addition. Oak newel attic stair adjacent to stack. Roof has an upper row of clasped purlins and a lower row of stepped butt purlins; 2-way wind bracing, slightly curved.
