Description

Valley Cottage is a former farmhouse dating from the first half of the 17th century, with additions made in the mid-20th century on the right side. The building is timber framed and plastered, topped with a pantiled roof. It has two storeys and follows a three-cell, lobby entry layout. There are three windows featuring a mix of 19th and 20th century casements. A 20th century gabled porch leads to a boarded and battened door. Inside, there is an internal stack with a small shaft, and the interior has been modernised while exposing the main components of the frame. Both the hall and parlour include axial bridging beams and plain joists. The roof structure consists of butt and clasped purlins with arched wind bracing.
