Description
The Old Forge is a former farmhouse dating from the early 17th century. It features a timber frame with plaster, while the right gable end is covered in colourwashed brick below the tie beam level. The roof is made of glazed black pantiles. The building has two storeys and was originally designed with an attic, following a three-cell, lobby entry layout.
There are three windows, primarily old three-light casements. On the ground floor, there is a mid-20th century canted bay window with a pantiled roof and another mid-20th century window to the right. A 20th-century gabled porch leads to a boarded door with a vertically-panelled face, and there is an additional single-pane window above the porch. Inside, there is an internal stack, and the frame remains largely intact, although some parts are concealed. The hall and parlour contain axial bridging beams with nicked stops, while the joists are concealed. The service end features plain joists set flat.
