Description
Blood Hall is a former farmhouse that has been converted into two cottages. It dates from the early 17th century and has two later additions. The building is timber framed and plastered, with the right gable end covered in weatherboarding up to the eaves. It features a pantiled roof and is designed in a three-cell, lobby entry style, standing two storeys tall with an attic.
The facade includes three windows, primarily mid-20th century standard casements without glazing bars, along with two older three-light windows on the first floor, each having a single horizontal glazing bar in each light. There are also two mid-20th century entrance doors. Inside, there is an internal stack with a rebuilt axial shaft. To the left of the main structure is a one-and-a-half-storey addition, possibly from around 1700, which has a mid-20th century standard casement window and a gable stack. Additionally, there is a two-storey rear addition from the later 17th century.
The interior features exposed framing on the upper floor, with mortices for diamond mullions visible in the former gable end where the later wing connects. The hall contains slightly chamfered joists, while the service end has plain joists set flat. The joists in the parlour are concealed, and the first-floor ceilings also have plain joists. A newel stair leads to the attic, which retains an old entrance door. The roof structure includes clasped purlins.
