Description
Red House Farmhouse is a mid-19th century farmhouse with a later 19th-century wing at the rear. The front block is constructed of red brick in a rat-trap bond pattern, except for the gables, and features a roof made of glazed black pantiles. The rear wing is also red brick but has a slated roof. The building is two stories high with a symmetrical three-bay front. It has pilaster strips at the corners and flanking the narrower center bay, along with parapet gables that step out at the eaves. The sash windows, which have glazing bars, are slightly inset and sit under segmental wedge lintels with raised keys. The doorway features a six-panel raised and fielded door, with the upper two panels being glazed. There is a porch supported by tapering fluted timber columns, though the bases of the columns are missing. A gable stack is located to the left. This farmhouse is a notable example of rat-trap bond brickwork, particularly due to its well-crafted doorcase.
