Description
This is a group of four headstones located about 10 to 15 metres southwest of the Church of St Laurence in Ramsgate. The headstones date from the mid-18th century and include the following:
- Thomas Mantle's headstone, which is approximately 2 and a half feet high and features scrolled shoulders leading to a scrolled egg and tongue cornice, with the inscription panel raised up to the cornice.
- Edward Smith's headstone, dated 1729, stands about 2 feet high and has a shaped head adorned with a garlanded anchor.
- Sarah Kenneard's headstone, dated 1739, is also about 2 and a half feet high and displays four skulls in a shaped outline at the head.
- Richard Maye's headstone, dated 1705, is around 2 feet high and features a scrolled outline head with a winged hourglass motif.
