Description
This barn, located about 30 metres south-west of Little Tong, dates from the mid 17th century. It is timber framed and weatherboarded, standing on a brick plinth, with a half-hipped corrugated iron roof that was formerly thatched. The barn features central double doors on the south side. The interior, which has only been partly inspected, consists of three timber-framed bays along with front and rear aisles. It includes jowled arch-braced posts and a clasped purlin roof with queen-struts supporting the collars. There is an inscription on a beam that is said to indicate its mid 17th century date.
