Description

This barn, located about 20 metres north-east of Great Tong, dates from the late 18th century. It is timber framed and weatherboarded, standing on a low brick plinth, with a hipped plain-tile roof. The barn features central double doors and has lean-tos on the north side of the west elevation and at the north end. Inside, there are five timber-framed bays and a rear aisle on the east side. The principal posts have cut jowls, and there are arch braces along with straight raking braces over the threshing floor. The roof is constructed with common rafters and clasped purlins. Notably, the date 1819 is inscribed on one of the principal posts. This barn is included for its group value.
