Description

WATER LANE TQ 74 NW HUNTON (South-west Side) 4/99 Oast House about 60 metres south- west of Elphicks Farmhouse GV II

Oasthouse. Mid-to-late C19. Red brick. Slate roof to stowage, plain tile roofs to kilns. Gable ends of stowage weatherboarded to upper floors. Rectangular stowage with 3 circular kilns to each long side, set back from gable ends. Stowage 3 storeys. Lower eaves to kilns, with cogged brick cornice. Hipped roof to stowage. Conical roofs to kilns, some with a louvred vent to one side, 4 with cowls. One recessed 2-light casement to each floor on each side of stowage between kilns and gable ends. Loading door to centre of each upper floor of gable ends and double doors to ground floor. Doorway to ground floor of one kiln. Interior not inspected.
