Description
This is a mid-19th century oasthouse located on East Sutton Road. The building features kilns and a ground floor for stowage made of chequered red and grey brick, while the first floor of stowage is weatherboarded. It has a plain tile roof and is designed in an L-shape with a circular kiln at each gable end. The kilns sit on a stone plinth and have a dentilled brick eaves cornice, which is interrupted by plain full-height pilasters. The ground floor of stowage is partly open, supported by a central brick pier and posts on pad-stones, with some areas infilled with vertical boarding. The kilns have cowled conical roofs and there are hatches leading to the first floor of stowage, along with three boarded doors on the first floor and a door at the base of each kiln. There is a later canopy around part of the roof of the south kiln. The interior has not been inspected, and a corrugated iron addition to the south-east is not included in the listing.
