Description

EAST SUTTON TQ 84 NW East half of 5/60 Stock Yard at East Sutton Park GV II

East half of stock yard. Mid C19, probably by C.J. Richardson. Red brick in Flemish bond, on stone plinth. Plain tile roofs. East side, half of north side and half of south side of rectangular courtyard. Gateway about 4 metres across, with plain rectangular piers to centre of north side of yard linked by wall to single-storey barn to east, with brick-coped gables, no north windows and C20 doors and windows to east end. Brick-coped wall continues to east, terminating in rectangular gate pier. Link building returning to south from barn, across east end of yard. Single storey, with various windows and 2 sets of double doors. Adjoins barn to centre of east side of yard. 2-storey height, with brick coped gables. Central midstrey, with double doors to east and full-height 4-centred arched gateway with gable over to west, aligned with central gatehouse on west side of yard. Shelter adjoining barn to south, in south-east corner of yard, with curved wall returning to west. Roof curved to east, gabled to west. North side open to yard. No further C19 buildings remain on south side of yard. Interiors not inspected. See also items 5/59 and 5/61.
