Description
The west half of the stock yard at East Sutton Park dates from the mid-19th century and is likely the work of C.J. Richardson. It is constructed of red brick in Flemish bond on a stone plinth, with plain tile roofs. This section forms the west and part of the north side of a rectangular courtyard.
The central gatehouse on the west side is two storeys high and features chamfered corners. Its gable has moulded brick coping, kneelers, and cut brick finials, along with a blank shield. There is a three-light wood mullion window on the first floor and a four-centred arched gateway with rubbed brick voussoirs.
The flanking buildings are set back from the face of the gatehouse and are single storey, each with a slightly projecting gabled bay at either end. They contain 19th and 20th-century doors and windows. A stepped wall with moulded brick coping and coped rectangular piers connects the gatehouse range to the buildings on the north side of the courtyard.
On the north side of the yard, there is a two-storey gabled barn. It has three slit windows under the eaves on the north side and five narrow horizontal windows on the ground floor. There is also a rectangular light on the west gable end and a first-floor door in the east gable end. The wall curves to the entrance gates located in the centre of the north side of the yard, which are flanked by rectangular gate piers. The interiors have not been inspected.
