Description

Durrants Cottages, located on West Street in Hunton, is a pair of houses that may date back to the 17th century or earlier, with an addition from the 18th century on the right side of the stack. The cottages are timber-framed and sit on a rendered plinth. The ground floor features a chequered pattern of red and grey brick, while the first floor is rendered. The right gable end displays exposed broadly-spaced studding with brick infilling on the ground floor. The roof is covered with plain tiles and is half-hipped on the right side. To the left, there is a projecting brick gable end, and two brick ridge stacks are positioned close together to the right of the center. The building has an irregular arrangement of five windows, which includes two 2-light and one 4-light 19th-century wooden casements, as well as two small rectangular lights, one of which is blocked. There are also two blocked doors, one located beneath the stack and another to the left of it, along with two rear doors. The interior has not been inspected. The cottages were formerly known as Elphick Farm Cottages.
