Description

This is an oasthouse located about 40 metres west of Gatehouse Farmhouse, built in the 19th century with an addition from 1914. The left kilns and the ground floor of the stowage are made of red and grey brick in Flemish bond, while the right kiln is constructed of red brick. The first floor of the stowage is weatherboarded, and the roofs are covered with plain tiles. The structure is rectangular, featuring two circular kilns on the left gable end and one rectangular stowage from 1914 on the right gable end. The stowage is two storeys high, with cogged brick eaves cornices on the left kilns and a plain eaves band on the right kiln. The stowage has a half-hipped roof, while the left kilns have conical roofs and the right kiln has a pyramidal roof, all topped with cowls. There are vents at the base of the left kilns and a small rectangular light positioned about halfway up. On the stowage, there is a small two-light wooden casement window to the left of centre, a blocked light to the right of centre, and a two-light ground floor window with a segmental head. A boarded door leads to the first floor at the left end of the stowage, with evidence of an external staircase. There is a similar door on the ground floor below, and a sliding boarded door at the right end of the stowage. The right gable end wall of the right kiln features a boarded door with a segmental head and a datestone from 1914 above it. The interior has not been inspected.
