Description
This is a 19th-century oasthouse located about 15 meters north-north-east of Summerhill House in Marden. The kilns are constructed from red and grey brick in English garden wall bond, while the first floor of the stowage is tile-hung. The oasthouse features plain tile roofs and is built at right angles to the road. It has a rectangular, two-storey stowage with two circular kilns at the north (front) gable end. The ground floor of the stowage is two bays wide and open to the right (west) on posts. Notable architectural details include a cogged brick eaves cornice and conical roofs with cowls on the kilns. The stowage roof is hipped at the rear. On the right side of the stowage, there are two two-light and one single-light paned casement windows on the first floor. A brick lean-to with a boarded door fills the gap between the kilns at the front. There is also a boarded door on the first floor towards the front end of the right side of the stowage, accessed by an external flight of wooden steps. The interior has not been inspected.
