Description
Elphicks Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the 17th century, with later additions to the left and alterations from the 19th and 20th centuries. It is timber framed, with the main range covered in plain tiles and the left addition featuring fishscale tiles. There is a stone patch towards the left end of the ground floor, and the roof is made of plain tiles. The building has two storeys and a garret, with a rendered plinth. The roof is hipped to the left and has a half-hipped section to the right, where the eaves jet out on moulded protruding wall-plate ends. A multiple filleted and corbelled brick ridge stack is located at the centre of the main range, slightly to the right, with a gable end stack that projects slightly to the left. The fenestration is irregular, featuring six windows: one small tripartite sash towards the centre of the left addition, two tripartite sashes flanking the stack, one small rectangular leaded light under the stack, and one 2-light ovolo-moulded mullion window on each side of the right tripartite sash. There is also a brick and tile-hung lean-to to the left, a two-storey red brick addition at right angles to the rear of the left end, and a parallel rear range. A rear door is present, but the interior has not been inspected.
