Description
Betteridge Farmhouse is a farmhouse, now a house, dating from the 17th century with later alterations and additions. It is timber-framed with roughcast infill panels and roughcast additions, topped with a plain tile roof and featuring a brick ridge stack. The main range is two bays long and aligned east-west, with extension wings to the north-east and south-west.
The north front has two storeys and irregular fenestration, primarily consisting of 20th-century casements. The main range is to the right, showcasing two tiers of small square panels on the ground storey and two tiers of larger panels on the first floor, supported by long curved braces. To the left is a gabled wing that includes a 20th-century lean-to bay window. The roof of this wing slopes over a porch located in the re-entrant angle between the wing and the main range. The right gable of the main range reveals more exposed wall framing and features a collar-and-tie-beam roof truss with raking queen struts.
Inside, there are chamfered and stopped ceiling beams. At the first-floor level, in the partition wall between the two bays of the main house, there is a two-light chamfered mullioned window with small glass panes.
