Description
The Malthouse is a farmhouse dating from the 17th century, now used as a house, with later alterations and a restoration completed in the late 20th century. The building is timber-framed with brick infill panels and some brick rebuilding, standing on a sandstone plinth. It features a plain tile roof, a brick ridge stack, and an integral end stack. The structure is aligned east-west and faces south, with a cross-wing at the west end. It has one storey and an attic.
The gabled wing on the left has close studding, topped by one tier of square panels, curved braces, and a roof truss with V-struts above the collar and vertical struts below. There is a 20th-century plank door leading to the cellar, a 20th-century bow window on the ground floor, and a 20th-century casement window in the attic. The building has a 1:2 window front. To the right, there is a brick range featuring 20th-century casements, including gabled attic dormers, and a brick porch dated 1977 with a plank door. The interior has not been inspected.
