Description
This is a road bridge built around 1841, located at SP 2198 9290 in Nether Whitacre. It is constructed from rock-faced sandstone ashlar and features a single segmental arch made of rusticated voussoirs that spans the Stonebridge Railway. The bridge has a bold parapet string and a plain coped parapet. Square buttresses flank the arch, and the vault is lined with brick. The Stonebridge Railway, which the bridge crosses, was opened on 10th February 1842 as a branch of the Birmingham and Derby Junction Railway.
