Description

The bridge at Nether Whitacre, built around 1841, is a road bridge constructed from rock-faced sandstone ashlar. It features a single segmental arch made of rusticated voussoirs, which spans the Stonebridge Railway. The bridge has a bold parapet string and a plain coped parapet. Square buttresses flank the arch, and the vault is lined with brick. The Stonebridge Railway, which the bridge crosses, was opened on 10th February 1842 as a branch of the Birmingham and Derby Junction Railway.
