Description

Mile Lane Bridge is a flying arch bridge built around 1838 that spans the London and Birmingham Railway. It is primarily made of stone, with some brick used in its construction. The bridge crosses the railway line in a roughly north-south direction over a deep cutting, and it seems to be built from stone that was excavated from the cutting itself. It features a single arch made of long and short voussoirs, supported at both ends by the sides of the cutting. The stone parapets have modern brick on their internal faces and are topped with modern pointed cappings.
