Description

This is a barn located about 24 metres south-west of Elderden Farmhouse, dating from the early 17th century. It is constructed with a timber frame, weatherboarded, and sits on a brick plinth. The roof is covered with plain tiles. The barn consists of five timber-framed bays, with a central two-bay addition that projects forward. It features a hipped roof over both the barn and the end of the addition. Inside, there are jowled posts and a clasped purlin roof with diminishing principal rafters, queen struts supporting high collars, and windbraces. The side walls have curved tension braces, and there is a face-halved scarf-joint. The interior has only been partially inspected.
