CHART SUTTON CHART HILL TQ 74 NE ROAD (east side) Elderden 4/26 Farmhouse GV II

Farmhouse. C15, with late C16 or early C17 alterations and additions. Timber framed. Ground floor red and grey brick, first floor close-studded with rendered infilling. Gable end of wing red brick in English bond. Plain tile roof. About 3 timber framed bays of open hall range, with long wing added, probably in late C16/early C17, to present front at right end. 2 storeys. Rear stack towards left end of main range and multiple brick gable end stack to wing with worn stone plaque. Irregular fenestration of two C20 casements to main range, and central 3-light C20 casement to wing flanked by 2-light ovolo- moulded mullion frieze windows. C20 ribbed door to main range against junction with wing, aligned with 4-centred arched hollow-chamfered doorway with solid spandrels to present rear. Interior: not inspected. Moulded end-of-hall beam to main range.
