Description
This is a barn located to the northwest of Hilders, dating from the late 16th century or early 17th century. It is timber framed and clad in weather-boarding, topped with a tiled roof that is half hipped to the west. Attached to the south is an 18th-century lean-to structure consisting of three bays, featuring through purlins and diagonal braces. The interior of the barn comprises four bays, with the end bay being reduced in size. The wall frame includes a midrail, jowled upright posts, and some curved windbraces. The roof is supported by a queenpost structure and rafters without a ridgepiece. The cart bay also contains some curved windbraces. There is a three-bay extension to the west, likely built in the 18th century, which reuses older timbers.
