Description

This barn, located about 20 metres north of Stonewall Farmhouse, dates from the mid-17th century. It is timber framed and weatherboarded on a stone plinth, topped with a half-hipped thatched roof. The structure consists of three timber-framed bays, with one additional bay added to the left and one and a half bays to the right. The barn features full-height double doors, with the left side door leading to the central bay of the original barn, and a rear porch also serving this bay. Inside, there are gunstock-jowled posts, a clasped purlin roof with diminishing principal rafters, and vertical queen-struts to the collars. The tie-beams are supported by arch braces. This barn is included for its group value.
