Description

The Old Bull House is an early to mid-17th century house, originally a public house, which was restored in the late 20th century. It is timber-framed, with a main range and a projecting cross-wing to the right. The main range has four timber-framed bays including a stack bay, whilst the cross-wing has one and a half bays. The main range has one and a half storeys, and the cross-wing has two storeys and a garret. The main range is weatherboarded, and the cross-wing is pebbledashed. It has a plain tile roof; the main range is hipped to the left with a gablet, and the cross-wing is half-hipped. There is a brick ridge stack at the junction of the main range and wing. The fenestration is irregular, with one small gabled dormer to the main range and one 20th century 2-light casement to the first floor of the wing. A 20th century half-glazed door is located towards the left end of the main range, and there is a later single-storey weatherboarded addition to the left.

Inside, there is exposed framing, a blocked diamond mullion first floor window to the rear of the left timber-framed bay, and a small inglenook fireplace. The roof is a clasped purlin common rafter roof with curved queen struts to the main range.
