Description
This barn, located about 20 meters north-west of Stone Pit Farmhouse, dates from the early 18th century. It is timber framed and weatherboarded, sitting on a brick plinth, with a plain tile roof. The structure consists of three timber-framed bays and features a hipped roof. There are central full-height double doors and a lean-to on the left (south) gable end. Additionally, there is a short single-storey weatherboarded addition with a hipped plain tile roof that projects forward from the right end. Inside, the barn has gunstock-jowled posts, arch-braced tie-beams, and a clasped purlin roof with diminishing principal rafters and vertical queen-struts to the collars. Each midstrey truss has a dragon tie on the outer side, and there are straight tension braces to the walls. The barn is included for its group value.
