Description
Monkton House is a house dating from the late 18th century. It features chequered red and grey brickwork, primarily in Flemish bond, with banded plain and fishscale tiles on the right and left gables. The roof is made of plain tiles and is designed with two storeys and a garret, set on a low brick plinth. There is a plat band and a wooden eaves cornice that includes a small acanthus design. The house has a half-hipped gambrel roof and a rear stack located to the left. The front of the house has a regular arrangement of three windows, which are slightly recessed four-pane sashes with horns. The ground-floor sashes have segmental heads. The central entrance door consists of six fielded panels, accompanied by a plain rectangular fanlight and a flat hood. There is also a rear lean-to. The interior has not been inspected.
