Description

Sutton Forge Oast is a 19th-century oasthouse located in Marden. The building features a kiln and ground floor made of red brick in Flemish bond, while the first floor is weatherboarded. It has plain tile roofs and is rectangular with two bays, including a circular kiln at the right end. The stowage is two storeys high and was formerly open at the front on the ground floor. There is a dentilled brick eaves cornice on the kiln, a hipped roof on the left end of the stowage, and a conical roof with a cowl on the kiln. The stowage has one twelve-light centrally-pivoting casement window and a boarded first-floor loading door accessed by an external flight of wooden stairs at the right end. Garage doors are located at the left end of the ground floor. Inside, the walls are finished with lath and hair-plaster. The building is included for its group value.
