Description
The Working Men's Club is a clubhouse built in the late 18th century, possibly incorporating an earlier structure. The ground floor is constructed of red brick in Flemish bond, while the first floor is tile-hung. The right gable end of the front range is weatherboarded and sits on a brick plinth. The building features a plain tile roof and has a double depth layout, or possibly an L-plan with a rear wing to the left and infilling to the right. It has two relatively low storeys, and there may be an underbuilt jetty at the front.
A moulded wooden eaves cornice with small Ionic modillions runs along the entire left elevation, part of the rear elevation, and the right gable end of the front range. The roof is hipped on the left side, returning to the rear, with separate hips for the front and rear ranges on the right. The fenestration is irregular, featuring three twelve-pane sash windows set well below the eaves. There is a ribbed door with a flat bracketed hood situated between the central and right windows. To the left gable end, there is a single-storey addition made of red and grey brick with a brick parapet. The interior has not been inspected.
