Description

The barn, dating to the early 18th century, is timber-framed and clad in weatherboarding above a stone plinth. It has a half-hipped tiled roof and comprises five bays, with an aisle to the south. Padstones are visible on the aisle posts. The wall frame includes a midrail and diagonal braces. The roof is of an angled Queen-post design, featuring staggered butt purlins. A notable feature is that on either side of the central bay, the roof extends over three bays, so the collared principals do not align with the tie beams. A low red brick addition, constructed around 1800 and incorporating grey brick headers, is attached to the north-west corner, with a tiled roof. Attached to the south-east is a former cattle stall, also timber-framed, clad in weatherboarding, with an open front and tiled roof.
